When having issues with a torrent client it is advisable to use multiple ones to test them.Ĭonsidering the clients with more features and settings, Deluge is one of the most used, reliable and with a lot of support (I mean wiki, faqs etc).Īnother one that is very interesting is Tixati ( here). sudo add-apt-repository ppa:konishchevdmitry/flush Then, I tried Flush, which is lighter, while still having a lot of features and looking basically the same.

Looking at the task manager, they are not very different, but I find qBittorrent more responsive and better adjusted - it looks like utorrent - while Ktorrent, while being a decent program has odd features like that you cannot close the program from the taskbar icon, it has tabs that seem useless and that you cannot close - well, in fact there's a close button to the right, it took me one month to see it, and so on.) sudo add-apt-repository ppa:hydr0g3n/ppa

So, I tried qBittorrent and I recommend it, for the speed and also because it is lighter than Ktorrent. Lately I was not satisfied with Ktorrent anymore (although I would prefer it to Transmission any day) because it seemed still rather heavy and even speed seemed too low (or maybe other settings need adjusting ? - I only adjusted the upload speed and nothing else). See Execution environment configuration for Systemd manpage. As I previously recommended Ktorrent I feel I should report on that. Notice User, Group and UMask (with capital M) directives. ( /etc/systemd/system//rvice in my case) ĭescription=Transmission BitTorrent Daemon I'm running my Transmission Daemon under my username, as set in it's systemd service file. I'll probably answer a different question here, but if you're trying this simply to gain write permissions on your Transmission Daemon's downloads to your user, try a different approach. Is there anything I am not setting up in the file that would prevent the script from working correctly and how would I use environment variables? Transmission supports some environment variables such as TR_TORRENT_NAME that I would like to use once the script is being triggered. I am not sure why Transmission is not executing the script. I know it is poor form to use a sudo command in this fashion, but I can execute the script on it's own and it will work correctly. The /home/user/script.sh file is as follows: #!/bin/bashĮcho sudopassword | /usr/bin/sudo -S /bin/chmod -f -R 777 /data/transmission/completedĮcho sudopassword | /usr/bin/sudo -S /bin/chown -f -R user /data/transmission/completed The owner of the script file is debian-transmission and I have the permissions set to 777, so there shouldn't be an issues with Transmission accessing the script unless I have missed something here.

The script does not seem to be executing after a torrent completes, I know there are other issues that could be going on aside the from the content of the script itself. "script-torrent-done-filename": "/home/user/script.sh", I looked in transmission and tested the port 51413, told me it was closed. It wasnt downloading so I searched and found that sudo ufw status verbose returned that it was Inactive. I am using the following relevant settings in /etc/transmission-daemon/settings.json: "download-dir": "/data/transmission/completed", I recently installed Ubuntu 20.04 and then installed Transmission 2.94 since it worked fine on my 18.04. I am looking to have the Transmission bittorrent client execute a script that changes the owner and permissions of all torrents in the completed folder when a torrent completes downloading.
